In Him, We Live, Move & Have our Being

One life, One Source, One Goal, One Mission, One Spirit, One Kingdom.

Some of us may have come across this profound statement in the book of Acts 17:28 “In Him, we live, move and have our being”. What a huge statement uttered by one of my heroes – Apostle Paul.

Paul made this statement during a knowledge sharing session on the gospel of Jesus, to some council of Elders in Athens. I’m really captivated by that heartfelt statement and I’m excited to share with you my thoughts on it.

In Him we live:

For those who have given their lives to Christ Jesus, In Him we live. Yes! we live according to Jesus’ lifestyle, we pattern our lives after Him, in simple terms we align our lifestyle with Jesus’s lifestyle, we must learn from him and how he lived his life.

Jesus grew in stature, in favor with God and Men not only because He is the Son of God but because he gave his life to the business, mission of His Father.

Friends, keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind and fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising Him always [Phil 4:8].

In Him we move:

This implies to me that we become Jesus’ eyes, hands, legs by taking action and continuing the movement and spreading of the gospel everywhere.

Standing for what is right and just. Taking care of the poor and needy among us and reaching out to the lost with kindness and love.

In Him we have our being

If you don’t know who you are in Christ, it’s certain the devil will take you for a ride.

In Him we have our being reminds us about the need to know our identity in Christ. As Jesus is in heaven so are we on this earth. We are created wonderfully in God’s image.

We are His chosen people, royalty, appointed and anointed, God’s special possession with an higher calling. Respected and honored by the creator of heaven and earth.

Most importantly, when you accepted Him as your Lord and savior, he gave you a brand new life, new beginning, iniquities wiped off by His blood and made you free so you can have the boldness to tell the devil to shut up when he raises accusations.

I think with these few points of mine, it’s enough to get up with shoulders high, chin up knowing that someone who raised Christ from the dead can bring you out of your troubles.
